Christie Day
Fishing for Success
Christie Day is involved with what may be seen as somewhat of a non-traditional occupation, the fishing industry. She has been involved in the fishery since 1996 when she was a crew member on her father’s boat. Eventually, Christie began to take on the role of operator in her father’s enterprise, but now with the help of CBDC Burin Peninsula, Christie has her own fishing enterprise to operate.
While there are many females involved in the fishing industry today, many are not involved to the extent that Christie Day is at her age of 29. In addition to her interest and investment in the inshore fishery, she has demonstrated some initiative in having completed some marine navigational courses through the Marine institute in St. Johns.
Christie looks forward to operating a successful business for years to come and is grateful to CBDC Burin Peninsula for helping to make her dream a reality.
