Keep Rolling: Advantage RV Repair Services
Your RV is like a whole house on wheels. It needs to have a functional kitchen, bathroom, and living space - with a truck engine thrown in for good measure. Maintaining it can be a real challenge requiring some specialized skills, which is why there are professionals like Curt Mackenzie, owner of Advantage RV Repair Services in Paradise, to help.
Mackenzie opened Advantage RV Repair Services in January of 2020 after his previous employer’s RV maintenance shop closed. He’d worked in the RV repair business for over 21 years and knew his new business could be a successful replacement.
“I get an amazing sense of self-accomplishment from building nothing into something relevant in the community,” he says.
Advantage RV Repair Services has been steadily growing, becoming a registered service centre for Keystone RV and Forest River, a registered dealer of SAL Warranties from IA Financial, and a wide range of parts and installation services. The company has grown from one employee to seven highly skilled, full-time staff.
“(We’re a) specialty shop, in a niche market, with only a few like us able to serve our customers when the two big dealerships went out of business,” Mackenzie says. “I genuinely love to work with my clients (and the) hands-on, day-to-day ownership with complete control.”
Advantage RV helps you with every aspect of your RV, from standard waterproofing and winterizations to roof repairs and even rebuilds. They’ve invested in state-of-the-art equipment and even added a mobile, on-site service to perform maintenance where you are, rather than coming into the Paradise location.
Mackenzie started the business with high hopes, but had no idea how quickly he would have to expand to serve his specialty market and came to CBDC Cabot for growth support when other avenues weren’t right for his business.
“Traditional banks were no help, so we turned to CBDC. We proceeded with the application after stewing on it for about six months,” he says. “Approval and the entire process was seamless and helped us to expand much quicker than going to traditional banks.”
He chose to go the route of a General Business Loan, which offers more flexibility than traditional loans, including a choice between a term loan of up to 10 years, a loan guarantee, or even equity investment.
