Press Release - New Brunswick Association of CBDCs Launches Innovative Cybersecurity and AI Support Program for SMEs

Bathurst, NB – The New Brunswick Association of Community Business Development Corporations (NBACBDC) announced the launch of a new initiative aimed at enhancing the cybersecurity and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) throughout New Brunswick. This forward-thinking program provides eligible SMEs with grants of up to $3,000 to access local experts and services to bolster their cybersecurity and AI infrastructure.
Cybersecurity New Brunswick is designed to build awareness about the importance of cybersecurity and AI through comprehensive training and information sessions. With the help of their local CBDC, participating SMEs will receive guidance and support in understanding and strengthening their cybersecurity posture, leveraging local expertise to navigate the complexities of the digital landscape.
The primary objective of the program is to equip New Brunswick SMEs with the tools and knowledge necessary to safeguard their digital assets and integrate AI solutions into their business operations. The program will provide:
- Grants of up to $3,000: Eligible SMEs can access local cybersecurity and AI experts to conduct risk assessments, readiness evaluations, and training sessions.
- Expert Consultation: Assistance in identifying and hiring subject matter experts to enhance the cybersecurity and AI readiness of participating businesses.
- Simplified Application Process: An online platform for easy application and claims processing, ensuring accurate data capture and accessibility for program staff and participants.

The Government of Canada, through the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), is providing a $2 million non-repayable contribution to support the roll-out of the initiative.

About New Brunswick CBDCs
The 10 CBDCs in New Brunswick are part of a vast network of independent not-for-profit businesses that work in partnership with the different levels of government in order to meet the needs of small and medium-sized businesses. The CBDC offices, located in the province's rural communities, facilitate business development in their respective regions. Their actions help in the creation of new businesses as well as the expansion and modernization of existing businesses, by offering financing, management training and counselling.
