Breaking Barriers One Website At A Time
Tobie Gregan is the owner and founder of "Web Themes/Web Hosting" a Website site design and hosting business located in Miramichi, New Brunswick. The first entrepreneur in her family, Tobie was born Deaf and was educated in an oral school setting. At the age of 19, our young entrepreneur learned American Sign Language (ASL) and is proud to be part of both the Deaf and hearing world.
This determined and driven entrepreneur possesses three college diplomas. She worked in various companies but there were often institutional communication barriers that prevented her from having a rich experience. In the fall of 2021, Tobie launched Web Themes/Web Hosting with immediate success. Her vision is to make her Websites more accessible for persons with disabilities.
Tobie enjoys making Websites more inclusive and providing each client with an artistic vision for their company. To offer personalized and custom advice, she generally works with two clients each month. As a life-long learner, Tobie finds that learning about new technology and how it can positively impact clients is a rewarding element of being an entrepreneur. As a passionate communicator, Tobie is grateful for technologies such as Video Relay Services (VRS) as well as Zoom so she can connect with clients and stakeholders.
Tobie is thankful for the support and expertise of the CBDC and "The Self-Employment Benefit Program for Persons with a Disability." It was paramount in providing her business insight through various training sessions and Webinars on cash-flow analysis, finance, Quick Books and Website design. Tobie found that CBDC offered an inclusive and barrier-free experience that helped her succeed.
An artist and photographer, Tobie hopes to someday sell her artwork to the public through her Website. In her spare time, she enjoys all the beauty and nature-experiences that Miramichi has to offer from kayaking to fly-fishing. Tobie hopes to help other Deaf entrepreneurs launch their businesses. She would like to help and explain how to establish business and values the Deaf community.
