Campout: South Dildo Park Glamping Suites
Love getting into the great outdoors, but not the part where you sleep on the ground or wake up in a leaky tent? What you may really be looking for, is a glamping experience! And when you’re looking for that luxury experience in the Conception Bay Area, you’ll love the accommodations at South Dildo Park’s Glamping Suites.
Opened in 2020, by Nancy and Terry Snow, the 15-acre, homestead property began with four glamping suites, but has since grown to seven. Each suite is available for rent year round and features luxury amenities like king size beds, rain shower heads in all the bathrooms, and private outdoor decks with overhanging roofs to enjoy the stunning views of the area, no matter the weather.
The Snows have continued to expand the business with the opening of The Barn Cafe, which plays host to locals, guests of the park, as well as visitors to the area.
“Our cafe benefits from our farm fresh eggs courtesy of our laying hens and seasonal homegrown vegetables, for a farm to table experience,” says Nancy.
The couple say running the business is rewarding on many levels, but most enjoy offering a unique experience for guests.
“Our business brings in tourists from around the world - many different countries and provinces,” Nancy says. “Tourists not only come to this area for what we have to offer, but also enjoy visiting local shops, stores and other restaurants in our community.”
The Snows took advantage of a number of CBDC programs to reduce start-up costs associated with the business.
“CBDC has helped with financing, training, and consulting services,” Nancy says. “(We have so) much appreciation to what CBDC has had to offer.”
The couple used the Consultant Advisory Service, which allows small- to medium-sized businesses to hire consultants for a variety of needs, including business planning, market readiness, and management, as well as the SEA Program which allows owners to continue to take a salary while starting up and Business Training to support them on their journey.
