In 2018 The Atlantic Association of CBDCs introduced the CBDC Business Award of Distinction.  The award was created to profile and reward the outstanding achievements of CBDC clients. Each year The Atlantic Association seeks equal representation from the four Provincial Associations. Each Association office is responsible for nominating one client from their respective region to be considered for the Atlantic CBDC Business Award of Distinction. 

This year the nominees for the Atlantic Business Award of Distinction were: ThermalWood Canada representing New Brunswick, White’s Fabrication representing Prince Edward Island, Aguathuna Drafting and Consulting representing Newfoundland-Labrador and Made with Local representing Nova Scotia. 

Each business was judged on set criteria and this year, Sheena Russell of Made with Local received the award at the Annual General Meeting held in Moncton, New Brunswick. 

Made with Local is a home-grown brand that had humble beginnings at a farmers’ market. They make delicious, nourishing snack bars using ingredients sourced close to home. The products are sold at over 3000 grocery stores across Canada and online in Canada and the United States. 

Now that they have their own manufacturing facility, thanks in part to CBDC Hants-Kings, Made with Local is able to take advantage of their growth opportunities. They control the baking, packaging and distribution of their product so they can say yes to capitalizing on seasonal flavours and short notice order opportunities. 

Made with Local has been community centered from the beginning, sourcing ingredients and forging connections with rural farmers and food producers for their honey, cranberries, blueberries, superberries and nut butters. As a certified B Corp they hold themselves to the highest standards of sustainability and social responsibility. All of this is to ensure they are creating foods that are delicious, nutritious and also do good for the world.
