Health Heavyweight: EveryBody Fitness
Carrie Caines knows wellness isn’t weighed in body fat and fitness comes in a lot of shapes and sizes. When she opened EveryBody Fitness in Grand Falls-Windsor, Carrie says she knew she wasn’t going to offer a one-size-fits-all approach to getting healthy.
“We’re committed to breaking down the barriers often found in traditional gym settings, eliminating intimidation, and empowering members to focus on their personal health and wellness journey,” Carrie says, explaining the fitness space is geared toward the comfort of women and youth. “EveryBody Fitness is more than a gym; it's a place where everyone belongs.”
EveryBody Fitness is open 24/7, offers various classes to its members, and group training for accountability. Carrie also offers her clients recipes, shares her personal fitness journey, and the members and staff work together to support community causes.
The Picture of Health
When opening a wellness business, Carrie says she prioritized the comfort, equality, and confidence of the people using the space, but she’s also proud of the relationships which have been built and the community which has developed in the space.
“As a small business owner you're more than just a provider — you’re a neighbor and a community member,” she says. “It’s also about being hands-on, wearing many hats, and having the responsibility to not only provide a service or product, but to build trust, foster relationships, and create an environment where people feel seen, heard, and valued.”
It’s exactly these values which have resulted in such success for Carrie and EveryBody Fitness. Most recently, Carrie was named one of RBC’s 2025 Women of Influence.
Body and Soul
Carrie also isn’t afraid to reach out when she needs help. In fact, CBDC Central was one of her first calls when she decided to open her own facility.
“CBDC has been great for mentorship and expertise,” Carrie says. “Networking and community engagement are just a few of the things I have experienced since partnering with CBDC.”
Carrie started EveryBody Fitness with a General Business Loan, as well as the Self Employment Assistance Program (SEA), which allows business owners to make an income while starting out. These are just two of the many programs available to small business owners in Newfoundland and Labrador through CBDC.
