Administrative Assistant
CBDC Yarmouth assists in the creation of small businesses and startups, and in the expansion and modernization of existing businesses by providing financial and technical services to entrepreneurs. This is done through financial assistance in the form of loans, business counselling and advice, entrepreneurship development and training, and technical assistance.
We are currently seeking an organized, detail oriented and proactive Administrative Assistant to support our team in achieving its goals. Reporting to the Executive Director, the successful candidate will be the first point of contact for all clients providing general information to the public on CBDC services and directing them to the appropriate team member. Responsibilities also include event and meeting coordination (Board meetings), financial and record keeping tasks, producing correspondence and basic reports including taking minutes during meetings, maintaining corporation files and team collaboration.
The preferred candidate will possess:
- Post-secondary education in Office Administration and/or relevant work experience in an office administration role.
- The ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
- Effective planning and organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills: an ability to listen, understand and probe CBDC personnel and clients to understand issues and meet their needs.
- Customer service skills: an ability to welcome new and existing clients (in person and by phone or email), provide support to CBDC personnel, the Executive Director and the Board of Directors in a professional , pleasant and efficient manner.
- Excellent computer literacy skills: an ability to effectively manipulate a large amount of information using various computerized systems or programs. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is required.
- Information management skills – an ability to manage information using effective filing methods and by using computerized information management systems.
- Basic accounting knowledge.
- Fluent in both English and French considered an asset.
This is a full time (35 hours/week) position. The office is located at 103 Water St, Yarmouth (PIER One Complex).
