Director of Women in Business

We are looking for a dynamic, passionate and motivated individual to fill the position of Director, with responsibility for overseeing our range of services and programs tailored to women entrepreneurs around the province.
Reporting to WBNB’s Advisory Committee and Executive Director, in addition to the Board of the New Brunswick Association of CBDCs (NBACBDC), the Director will be primarily tasked with executing and implementing the key elements of WBNB’s strategic plan.
The successful candidate must have demonstrated HR, financial and project management experience.
Roles and responsibilities
The Director is responsible for carrying out various tasks, including the following:
Leadership
• Help the Advisory Committee to develop WBNB’s strategic plan and objectives and oversee WBNB’s operations
• Take part in all Advisory Committee and NBACBDC Board meetings
• Actively participate in associations serving women in business in NB and across Canada
• Identify and evaluate internal and external issues that could impact WBNB and keep the NBACBDC and the
Executive Director informed
• Keep the Advisory Committee and NBACBDC informed about all aspects of WBNB’s operations
• Promote effective teamwork between the Board, the Advisory Committee, the Executive Director and WBNB’s
employees
• Act as a spokesperson for WBNB at the Executive Director’s request
• Represent WBNB at events with a view to raising the organization’s visibility
Operational planning and management
• Draw up an operational plan supporting the achievement of WBNB’s strategic goals
• Ensure that WBNB’s activities meet the expectations of clients, the Advisory Committee and WBNB’s financial
partners
• Oversee WBNB’s day-to-day operations to ensure efficiency and effectiveness
• Draft policy proposals for adoption by the Advisory Committee and NBACBDC; prepare policy implementation
procedures; review current policies annually and recommend changes, as applicable
• Maintain an active presence on social media
Program planning and management
• Identify opportunities, embrace innovation and develop programs strategically aligned with WBNB’s
goals and clients’ needs
• Oversee the planning, implementation and evaluation of WBNB’s programs and services
• Ensure that all programs and services contribute to the achievement of WBNB’s mission and reflect
the Advisory Committee’s priorities
• Oversee the delivery of WBNB’s programs and services with a view to maintaining or improving quality
• Oversee the planning, implementation, execution and evaluation of special projects
HR planning and management
• Determine WBNB’s staffing needs to ensure effective program management and delivery
• Oversee the implementation of NBACBDC’s HR policies, procedures and practices
• Foster a positive, healthy and safe workplace in accordance with relevant laws and regulations
• Recruit, interview and guide employees who possess the required technical and personal skills with a
view to fulfilling WBNB’s mandate
• Implement a staff management process, including regular monitoring of employee performance and
annual evaluations
• Take disciplinary action against employees, if necessary, using appropriate techniques; dismiss
employees using appropriate procedures and in accordance with relevant legislation
Financial planning and management
• Work alongside employees and the Executive Director in preparing WBNB’s budget
• Work closely with the NBACBDC and the Executive Director to raise the necessary operational funding
• Conduct research to identify funding sources, oversee fundraising plans and write applications with a
view to increasing the available funding
• Approve expenses in accordance with NBACBDC policy
• Ensure that proper bookkeeping and accounting procedures are adopted and implemented
• Manage WBNB’s financial affairs in line with the approved budget and monitor the organization’s monthly
cash flow
• Submit regular reports to the NBACBDC Board on WBNB’s revenues and expenditures
• Ensure that WBNB complies with all relevant tax and withholding legislation
Risk management
• Identify and assess WBNB’s specific risks, whether they relate to the organization’s people (clients,
employees, executive officers, volunteers), assets, finances or reputation, and take steps to control these
risks
Desired Profile
Education and experience
• A bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field, or equivalent experience
• A master’s degree in business administration or a related field would be an asset
• At least five years’ experience in a community-based or non-profit organization
• At least two years in a senior management position, preferably in the non-profit sector
• In-depth knowledge of the entrepreneurial sector, particularly as regards women in business
• Entrepreneurial experience would be an asset

Salary and work conditions
• Starting salary of $75,000, depending on experience and education
• Three-year contractual position, renewable depending on funding availability
• Benefits (medical plan and retirement)
• The position holder must reside in New Brunswick
• This position is based in Bathurst, NB
