Prince County Guest House
Prince County Guest House is nestled in Miscouche, Prince Edward Island just minutes from the Acadian Museum and Linkletter Provincial Park
The Victorian guesthouse offers 16 guest rooms, each with a private bathroom and it also boasts its own on-site pub which is well known around the community for its quality food and enjoyable events such as a karaoke night.
Owners, Xiangbiao Meng and Jing Bai have combined their talents to create Prince County Guest House, with Xiangbiao using his carpentry skills, and Jing Bai overseeing the bookkeeping, housekeeping, and marketing. They have restored a large Victorian property with rustic, historic charm and colourful gardens indicative of Prince Edward Island and its rich culture.
As most entrepreneurs experience, there were struggles along the way, specifically financial issues. They were denied funding by financial institutions as their business was not well established. As a result, they were compelled to take out high interest personal loans. To receive more financial support without an overly high interest rate, they reached out to CBDC Central PEI, and they were able to receive support through both the General Business Loan and the Tourism Seasonal Extension Program which allowed them to upgrade their heating during the off-season.
There are additional plans to add an elevator within the next year, this will increase accessibility for their guests who have disabilities and mobility issues.
The couple have both worked hard to build their dream of owning a hotel and ensuring that people leave feeling satisfied and happy. The Prince County Guest House is a wonderful display of the beauty of Prince Edward Island and a great option for anyone visiting the area.
