Passion For All Things Auto

Led Darren Dube to Persevere

Darren Dube is the owner and operator of “Atelier DD Shop Auto Esthetics Technician” located in Saint- Jacques, New Brunswick. He specializes in the automotive esthetic field and his services include automotive refurbishment, interior shampoo, engine shampoo, water sanding to remove scratches, polishing, waxing and touching up paint. For recreational vehicles, this hard-working business owner offers intense washing, paint touch-ups, polishing and plastic staining.

Darren is originally from the St-Jacques region and has been married for twenty-one years. He is the proud father of a thirty-year-old son. After graduating in 1988, Darren began his career in the customer service business. Always having an interest in auto detailing, he started working on it part-time in the 1990s and then full-time ten years ago.

A work-related injury caused Darren to incur two lumbar fusions (L1-L2 and L5-S1). Due to the physical nature of the occupation, his specialist advised him against continuing his career in automotive detailing. Following a year of recovery and during the pandemic, Darren decided that he was not ready to give up on his passion, so he sought professional advice from the CBDC.

CBDC Madawaska suggested Darren participate in the “Self-Employed Work Assistance Program for People with Disabilities.” This program enabled him to continue his trade by working reduced hours while realizing the benefits and flexibility of seventy-five weeks of Employment Insurance.

Darren is grateful for the support of CBDC. According to this passionate entrepreneur, the most rewarding aspect of entrepreneurship is being able to dedicate himself to his passion, despite having some physical limitations. Furthermore, seeing the satisfied look on his clients’ faces as he hands over the keys to their vehicles is for Darren “absolutely priceless!”
