When you meet Sarah and Lance Underhay, owners of Tipsy Farmers in Souris, PEI, you immediately feel the energy of a family business built on passion, creativity, and a deep love for community. What began as a small, family-run venture has quickly grown into one of Eastern PEI’s most vibrant and talked-about local destinations.
From day one, Sarah and Lance set out to create more than a place to eat—they wanted to build an experience. Their on-site menu has become a local favourite, known for its delicious, comforting, and inventive offerings. But the Underhays didn’t stop there. As demand grew, so did their vision. Today, Tipsy Farmers proudly offers select menu items at other PEI business locations, extending their reach and flavour across the Island.

Their commitment to collaboration has also led to exciting partnerships with fellow local businesses, strengthening the fabric of the community they love. Whether it’s co-hosting events, sharing products, or supporting other entrepreneurs, Sarah and Lance have embraced the spirit of “local supporting local” in everything they do.
During a recent visit, Lisa DesRoches of Atlantic 360 Photography shared a glimpse into the heart of what makes Tipsy Farmers so special. She noted how far the business has come—from its early days operating above the Souris Rink to the vibrant Main Street location they now call home—and how Sarah and Lance’s evolution has been shaped by both opportunity and community need. While their farm and animal operations are temporarily paused as the restaurant continues to grow, their future plans, including hopes for cider made from their own apples, reflect the same creativity that has fueled their success. What stood out most to Lisa, though, was the atmosphere: Sarah greeting customers with a smile, the easy rapport with regulars, and the sense of belonging that fills the space. She recalled meeting an 80-year-old customer who joyfully shared that ever since Tipsy Farmers opened at the rink, she hasn’t cooked for herself—she simply eats their food. It’s the kind of story that captures exactly why this business matters to Souris.
And if you’ve ever visited Tipsy Farmers, you know it’s not just about the food. The Underhays have transformed their space into a lively hub of entertainment and connection. From live music nights to tattoo events, trivia, Masked Singer competitions, and the ever-popular Tipsy Idol, they’ve created a place where people come to gather, laugh, and make memories.

At CBDC East, we are incredibly proud to be part of Sarah and Lance’s journey. Supporting entrepreneurs like the Underhays—people who pour their hearts into their work and uplift their community along the way—is exactly why we do what we do. Watching Tipsy Farmers grow, evolve, and thrive has been inspiring, and we’re excited to see what comes next for this dynamic family business.
